Humanitarian access is central to an effective humanitarian response.1 Given the growing number of armed conflicts around the world and the increasingly challenging political environments in which humanitarian action takes place, maintaining humanitarian access is proving ever more difficult. It has become a pressing priority for the humanitarian system in recent years, leading to the development of structures, frameworks, mechanisms, strategies, approaches, tools and products intended to increase leadership on the issue.
