Translating the macro to the micro: assessing the relationship between conflict early-warning systems and community-level humanitarian organisations

By

This study examines the relationship between community-level humanitarian organizations and conflict early-warning systems, using prevention mechanisms for the Kenyan elections from 2007-2017 as a case study. Conflict early-warnings constantly face issues with prompting early-responses, but despite issues with data and a lack of political will to act and prevent, humanitarian organizations are translating macro-level information provided by early-warning systems into actionable community projects capable of preventing or reducing violence in communities. This study argues a multi-level conflict prevention and preparedness method, led by local humanitarian organizations, has the ability to translate warnings into action.
